Recently I’ve noticed how much Netflix actually comes up into conversation; me and my friends spend ages talking about which one of us is going to marry Michael from Prison Break. This inspired me to create two lists of recommendation: TV shows and films.
I apologise if the descriptions are brief or vague but there’s no point in me giving you a detailed account of what the shows are about because it’ll spoil the stories.
One of my all time favourite TV shows. Stories about prison have always fascinated me, but Prison Break explores angles that other shows wouldn’t think of touching. For example, the romantic relationship between a prisoner and a prison nurse, someone purposely making sure that they go to prison, prisoners actually successfully escaping from prison…
Orange is the New Black
Another TV show set in prison. I’m an addict! This one is a lot funnier than Prison Break, but it can too be violent at times. There’s such a diverse mix of characters in the prison that there’s always something shocking going on.
The Vampire Diaries
This show is about the love and war between creatures such as vampires, werewolves, witches and a few more complicated types. It’s interesting to see how far the characters are willing to go to protect each other. I’ve made it sound quite cheesy and romantic but there’s a lot of violence, death and drama in it too.
This was a series brought out to show what The Vampire Diaries cast are doing in a different location: New Orleans. I don’t think it’s as good as The Vampire Diaries but it’s still worth a watch if you want to find out what happens.
Pretty Little Liars
I’m pretty sure most people have already watched this and, like me, are waiting anxiously for season 7 to be released. If you decide to watch this (which you should) please don’t be put off by the first few episodes – they are quite girly. After that, the episodes get quite dark and the show turns into a thriller. There’s a lot of mystery and deception hiding behind the characters.
Louis Theroux documentaries
Louis Theroux is a very clever man and the issues that he addresses range from hilarious to hard-hitting. Watch one and you might learn something.
Personally, I don’t think Netflix has a massive choice of good films to watch – a lot of them are quite cheesy or predictable. However, some of my favourites include: Frankie and Johnny, Mockingjay Pt 1, Limitless, Scream and Friday the 13th (all of them).
Thank you for reading!
Do you have any Netflix recommendations? I don’t know what to watch next…
